"A child can teach an adult three things: to be happy for no reason, to always be busy with something, and to know how to demand with all his might that which he desires."
- Paulo Coelho
"The best way to make children good is to make them happy."
- Oscar Wilde
Letting kids grow up at their own pace
It's not possible to get a child to progress to a new stage of development before he/she is ready. And progress can differ by weeks or even months among children of the same age. As long as the child progresses and develops new skills as time goes on, then he/she is fine, even if he/she skips a step. For example, some children skip crawling and simply begin to walk.

Hugging is healthy, completely natural and practically perfect
Numerous scientific studies show that hugs are a powerful therapeutic tool. They not only soothe, relieve pain, but even increase immunity ( Comprehensive Psychology, November 2012). Free and highly effective tool, proven for centuries. Research has shown that hugging also affects our intelligence, so it is believed that those children who hug more will be more intelligent than those whose were hugged less.
Discipline - not before, but after establishing good relations with the child. You cannot discipline a child with whom you have not established communication.
Do not help the child unless he asks for help. When you don't interfere, you actually tell them that they are doing well. Help them only if they encounter serious obstacles that they cannot overcome.
If something is difficult for child to do and they want to accept your help, be sure to help them. Help them only with things they cannot do by themselves. As children develop their abilities, slowly leave everything to them.
